The Portsmouth Memorial Day Parade has run annually since 1884. This year, Scouts from Pack 207, Troop 207, Troop 234, Troop 5259, and Crew 179 gathered to march together to represent Scouting. Way to go, Scouts!

Benton's Eagle Scout project is a true testament to the power of Scouting, community, and youth leadership coming together!

Really great to see this kind of leadership and community effort come together.

Benton Westphal, a 14-year-old member of Kitty Hawk Troop 117 in the Tidewater Council, recently completed his Eagle Scout service project at Jockey’s Ridge State Park by building a permanent amphitheater and fire pit that will be used for park programs, night hikes, and community events.

Over the course of one weekend in March, 26 scouts and troop leaders came together to complete the project, and the space is already being used by visiting student groups and park programs.

The finished amphitheater fulfills a vision the park had hoped to create for years, and it’s a great example of what young people can accomplish when they’re trusted with real responsibility.

Congratulations to Benton on an outstanding Eagle Scout service project. Excited to see what he does next, both in Scouting and in the community.
