The Virginia Beach Library Foundation is a certified 501c3 public nonprofit whose mission is to secure, manage and invest private raised funds, gifts and bequests in support of Virginia Beach Public Library. Donations are used to fund special projects, materials, and programs benefiting the community that the library could not otherwise afford through its annual city operating budget. FAQ’s
Is the foundation necessary when the library is funded with taxpayer dollars? While the city has been and is most supportive, public funding is not sufficient to enable the library to keep pace with the needs and demands of a 21st century library. Support for new programs, technology upgrades, expanding collections, and building an endowment will ensure the future of the library system.

Eric Carle, Creator Of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar,' Has Died

Beloved author and illustrator Eric Carle passed away at the age of 91. Many of his children's books, including the Very Hungry Caterpillar, are modern-day classics. We'll eat through at least four strawberries in his honor 🍓🍓🍓

The beloved author and illustrator drew more than 70 books for kids — often about friendly bugs like that famous caterpillar. He said he got his inspiration from nature walks with his father.
