Our Story
The Virginia Beach Library Foundation is a certified 501c3 public nonprofit that provides a protected vehicle for giving donations to the library system.
Donations are used to fund special projects, materials, and programs benefiting the community that the library could not otherwise afford through its annual city operating budget.
FAQ’s
Is the foundation necessary when the library is funded with taxpayer dollars?
While the city has been and is most supportive, public funding is not sufficient to enable the library to keep pace with the needs and demands of a 21st century library. Support for new programs, technology upgrades, expanding collections, and building an endowment will ensure the future of the library system.
