Virginia Beach Library Foundation You can be an integral part of the Virginia Beach Public Library’s future. FAQ’s
Is the foundation necessary when the library is funded with taxpayer dollars?

For questions about giving opportunities, please contact our Development Specialist at [email protected] The Virginia Beach Library Foundation is a certified 501c3 public nonprofit whose mission is to secure, manage and invest private raised funds, gifts and bequests in support of Virginia Beach Public Library. Donations are used to fund special projects, materials, and programs benefiting t

he community that the library could not otherwise afford through its annual city operating budget. While the city has been and is most supportive, public funding is not sufficient to enable the library to keep pace with the needs and demands of a 21st century library. Support for new programs, technology upgrades, expanding collections, and building an endowment will ensure the future of the library system.

Celebrating Children Day 2026 was one for the books! 🎉

This past Saturday, we welcomed an estimated 4,000 attendees for a day full of fun, learning, and community connection. From the 1 Mile Fun Run with 1,500 participants to 74 local resources and vendors, this year’s festival was our biggest and most engaging yet!

Together with our partners, we helped raise $34,000 to support important programs and initiatives in our community. 💙

A huge THANK YOU to all of our incredible vendors, partners, and volunteers who made this event possible—and to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. Your support is what makes events like this so special.
