or my mom's heavy Filipino accent explaining to people on the navy base that my father was not MERICAN (white)? In 2001, shortly after the events of 911, I had the idea to brand a tee-shirt company with an ambiguous political agenda and "Merican" could be interpreted as both racist as well as antiracist, thus inspiring thought...

The MERICAN BRAND is about questioning what the citizens of United States perceive as what being a Proud American entails. It's about reiterating the melting pot concept. After all, this country was founded on: people fleeing the suffering of religious persecution, immigrants from all over the world, and slaves. Now however unpleasant our history, it's what makes up our great nation in which we live. MERICAN is about being proud of your country, while questioning your government, peacefully fighting for your rights as citizens, and resisting oppression, bigotry and racism in any form. Merican is about pride in our individual citizens defending our nation while also questioning the policies and powers that be who make these military decisions. What is the truth? I wanted to create a brand that would actually force people to think and question our sometimes sordid history as well as unacceptable current events. Lastly, Merican is about embracing the "whatever it takes" and "can do" attitude, while also living within your means by creating a product, selling that product, and providing for your family...THE MERICAN DREAM. "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Let's get out there and do something. When doing so, have passion about what you do in life, be persistent in all of your endeavors and remain patient for the outcome of anything and everything that you pursue. Peace be with all of you and rock the tees and hats proudly! Thanks for all of your support over the years guys, and if this is you're first time visiting the site...Thank you for your time. Peace,
