A new space built just for teens is officially here!
On Friday, BGCSEVA held our ribbon-cutting for the Chesapeake Teen Center Powered by Family Dollar at 816 Eden Way N. in Chesapeake.
Nearly 100 teens, community partners, elected officials and supporters joined us to tour the newly transformed space and celebrate what it will mean for local young people.
Designed exclusively for teens, this regional center will officially open on September 8, 2026, and provide a dedicated place for young people to:
-Explore career pathways and workforce-readiness opportunities
-Build leadership, confidence, and life skills
-Connect with trusted adult mentors
-Discover new possibilities for their futures
-Participate in meaningful after-school and summer programming
The Chesapeake Teen Center will serve teens from across Hampton Roads, expanding BGCSEVA's reach to middle and high schoolers in Chesapeake and ensuring more young people have access to the support, relationships, and opportunities they deserve.
A special thank-you to Family Dollar, the Center's lead sponsor, for its transformational $2 million commitment. Their investment will extend beyond funding through mentorship, volunteerism, career exposure, and opportunities for teens to learn from Family Dollar associates.
"Every teenager has a future, but sometimes we just need the right place and the right people to help us see what's possible," said Isaiah, BGCSEVA's 2025 Youth of the Year. "This isn't just a building. It's a message to young people that we are seen, we are heard, and we are worth investing in."
