⚾❤️ KVRS was honored to participate in the Home Run Derby held in memory of Matt Lucas and help raise awareness about the importance of CPR training and sudden cardiac arrest awareness.
Matthew's life was tragically cut short on October 14, 2024, due to sudden cardiac death. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death for student-athletes in the United States, claiming approximately 100–150 young lives each year. Many underlying heart conditions are genetic and often show no symptoms during routine physicals. In fact, nearly 90% of these incidents occur during or immediately after exercise.
Knowing CPR can make the difference between life and death. Immediate CPR can double or even triple a person's chance of survival while waiting for emergency responders to arrive.
🫀 Learn CPR. Save a life.
Basic CPR Steps:
1️⃣ Call 911 and send someone to get an AED if available.
2️⃣ Place your hands in the center of the chest.
3️⃣ Push hard and fast at a rate of 100–120 compressions per minute.
4️⃣ Continue chest compressions until help arrives or an AED is ready to use.
