Dominion Energy | Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind

4/14/22 Meeting - Speaker Paula Miller Legislation and Affairs Dominion Energy. Subject Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Clean Energy. The future of clean energy in America is being built 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach. It’s called the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project and it is the largest project of its kind in the United States. Once fully constructed in 2026, CVOW will generate enough clean, sustainable energy to power up to 660,000 homes. And by harnessing the power of the wind, CVOW will avoid or displace the carbon equivalent of removing 1 million non-electric cars from the road each year. CVOW will also serve as a critical resource for meeting the clean energy goals of the Commonwealth of Virginia and addressing the growing threat of climate change across our most vulnerable communities. CVOW is equally important for a diverse energy supply, which is essential for reliability, energy independence, and energy security while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Anchored in Hampton Roads, CVOW is transforming the local economy by attracting economic development opportunities and creating hundreds of good-paying clean energy jobs, millions in tax revenues and hundreds of millions in economic benefits. visit: www.coastalvawind.com to learn more about the project.

Dominion Energy is committed to meeting Virginia’s energy needs through sustainable, reliable sources. Learn more about Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind.

Jim McConathy spoke to the Kempsville Lions about the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach. The Museum is home to one of the world's largest collections of warbirds in flying condition from Germany, France, Italy, Russia, the United Kingdom and the US. The World War I and II collection ranges from the 1910s to the early 1950s.

Kempsville Lions Club is a service organization, as well as a social organization. A couple of our service projects include providing "SPOT" eye exams to children from 6 months of age. The SPOT device looks at both eyes at a distance of about 3 feet and can help identify seeing issues. When found, parents are given a printout to take to their childs eye doctor. The LIONS Eye Bank in the Sentara Hospital in Norfolk, provides eye services including cornea transplants. Our fund raisers include broom sales several times a year at Fairfield Shopping Center and a Golf Tournament in April each year. We have a monthly dinner meeting with social time before the meeting. LIONS has 1.4 million members internationally making it the largest service organization.

How DELICIOUS does this Yummy Goodness Catering Co. meal look? Thank you, Virginia Beach Kempsville Lions Club, for your consistent meal sponsorship for our Women and Children's Shelter! We appreciate your faithful support.

Every month the members of the Virginia Beach Kempsville Lions Club used to come and personally serve a meal to our shelter guests. Even with COVID, they continue to serve as one of our most faithful longtime volunteer groups. With the help of Yummy Goodness Catering Co. , they provided our Women and Children's Shelter with yet another delicious dinner (maybe two)!
🎅 And we hope you can keep a secret. We expect some surprises to appear under the 🎄 next Friday! Ho! Ho! Ho! 🎅
Kempsville Lions Club comes on the fourth Monday of every month to serve dinner to our shelter guests. They register each person who's attending, follow the serving guidelines of our kitchen staff, and report on time and ready to work. They even provide cookies for dessert! We so appreciate their dedication and hearts of service!

THANK YOU, Virginia Beach Kempsville Lions Club! We appreciate your partnership!

Please note: For the safety of our guests, staff, and partners, all volunteer activity is suspended for now. To learn more about how to get involved at the Mission in the future, please visit the Volunteer page on our website at unionmissionministries.org, or contact our Volunteer Coordinator Christina Geisler at [email protected].

How is it going ?
I want to thank you for your Pre-K vision screening program. I was with my three year old niece at the Kempsville Library one day and there was a screening going on, so I had her screened, and it turned out she had a vision problem. We would not have found out this early if not for the Lions Club, so I would like to thank you for the good that you do. Over the years my family have bought brooms and donated when we could, never knowing one day we would need your services. Thanks again. My niece is getting her glasses today, and she is very excited to be able to see clearly!
Fellow Lions: Lion Mel Stauffer, a charter member of the Kempsville Lions Club and a member of he
