4/14/22 Meeting - Speaker Paula Miller Legislation and Affairs Dominion Energy. Subject Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Clean Energy. The future of clean energy in America is being built 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach. It’s called the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project and it is the largest project of its kind in the United States. Once fully constructed in 2026, CVOW will generate enough clean, sustainable energy to power up to 660,000 homes. And by harnessing the power of the wind, CVOW will avoid or displace the carbon equivalent of removing 1 million non-electric cars from the road each year. CVOW will also serve as a critical resource for meeting the clean energy goals of the Commonwealth of Virginia and addressing the growing threat of climate change across our most vulnerable communities. CVOW is equally important for a diverse energy supply, which is essential for reliability, energy independence, and energy security while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Anchored in Hampton Roads, CVOW is transforming the local economy by attracting economic development opportunities and creating hundreds of good-paying clean energy jobs, millions in tax revenues and hundreds of millions in economic benefits. visit: www.coastalvawind.com to learn more about the project.
Dominion Energy is committed to meeting Virginia’s energy needs through sustainable, reliable sources. Learn more about Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind.

Kempsville Lions Club is a service organization, as well as a social organization. A couple of our service projects include providing "SPOT" eye exams to children from 6 months of age. The SPOT device looks at both eyes at a distance of about 3 feet and can help identify seeing issues. When found, parents are given a printout to take to their childs eye doctor. The LIONS Eye Bank in the Sentara Hospital in Norfolk, provides eye services including cornea transplants. Our fund raisers include broom sales several times a year at Fairfield Shopping Center and a Golf Tournament in April each year. We have a monthly dinner meeting with social time before the meeting. LIONS has 1.4 million members internationally making it the largest service organization.
We support this program!
