A long overdue library post but excited to share our new library mural in our reading nook! The "Reading Reef" was sponsored by our Glenwood PTA and Rob Cropper did all the incredible art. The students absolutely loved it!

In October, our library has seen almost 5,000 total checkouts! We've had lessons covering topics that range from our families to autumn and pumpkins, to nonfiction text features. Our 3rd-5th graders came in for a lesson on understanding the Dewey decimal system with a scavenger hunt. This month we also started a genre reading challenge for 3rd graders and are loving the conversations around the new books they're reading. And just for fun - we had a Mad Libs challenge in the library this month - complete a spooky-themed Mad Lib and earn a prize if it makes your librarian laugh. Needless to say, everyone succeeded! 😆

It was so fun to get a bonus lesson in with Ms. Carlson's crew last week! After reading the book Not a Box by Antoinette Portis we used mystery materials to build our own "Not a Box" structures.
