Newtown Elementary School, Celebrating Learning. • A podcast on Anchor
Newtown Elementary School is a part of the Tri-campus in Virginia Beach. This podcast is for the purposes of giving our students and staff a voice to celebrate the time we spend learning together.
Today twelve Newtown students were treated to a special field trip to the Virginia Aquarium as part of the Oceans Of Success program to reward students that showed a lot of growth and improvement.

Seven hundred local students at 14 schools across the area will be gifted new running shoes to participate in the annual Shamrock Marathon Weekend.

March Is Reading Month and Newtown kicked it off with a "One School, One Book" event where the entire school is reading Mouse On A Motorcycle. The kickoff was held in the bus loop parking lot with our fabulous School Resource Officer, Officer McNeil as our Mouse On A Motorcycle.

Newtown Planting The Seed! Volume 20
On Friday, December 17th, Newtown Elementary took time out of the day to enjoy the weather and have a school wide Morning Meeting. They were treated to songs from Mr. Smith's Music Club. Birthday Celebrations from Admin, some fun movement lead by Mr. Vasta and a book from Mrs. Davis.
The Keith Clark Make A Kid Smile For Christmas Organization dropped off some Christmas gifts for some of our students on Wednesday.
Newtown's Military Children planted flags in front of the school to honor all our nation's Veterans.
We had a great time with great weather for the Garden Chefs Club yesterday. We weeded, transplanted, built a bench, filled bird feeders and worked on framing up another section of beds.
UPDATE: Can't forget our Cafeteria Manager. She helped kids pick peppers and tomatoes to eat with the school lunches today.
Ms. Lewis works with her second graders with a pop up green screen as their culminating task for their weather unit.
Newtown Elementary brings back their annual Book Character Parade and the rain cleared out just in time to hold it outside on Friday October 29th.

We welcomed families and our new students on Thursday with our Meet and Greet to give students and family a chance to meet their teacher and other school staff. Only limited numbers could be allowed in the building so we set up out front with tables for free book bags and school supplies as well as free books free veggies and good music.
