Pictures taken yesterday afternoon by Chief Mayer of the Jenkin’s Fire. The fire tripled in size during the day and darkened the skies over Babbitt. Much calmer in the area this morning. Pray for all those involved in these fires. There is no containment as of yet due to the aggressiveness of these fires.

Pike-Sandy-Britt Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend a big thank you to Peter Makowski and Cheryl Olivanti for all the work they did to help make out 60th Anniversary Event a success!

This is a little late coming, but Pete researched a lot of our history and helped promote our event. Cheryl donated a lot of time to preparing food and serving the folks who attended.

This is the type of volunteerism that makes a community!

Everyone should know what goes around, comes around. Right Capt. Bill Ray? Andy was quick to reciprocate.

Friends, we are saddened tonight to hear that retired deputy sergeant and Rescue Squad liaison officer Bernie Mettler (callsign 5192) was killed in an ATV accident. Bernie smoothed the way for us on matters of law, and was the voice of common sense on many SAR calls. He was smart, hilariously funny, and a go-to guy we were honored to work alongside. We will miss him greatly.
