Playground Update

The City will begin the closure and demolition of the Enchantment Playground at Eckhart Park as the first step toward building a brand-new play space, with construction scheduled to begin this fall.

As demolition moves forward, there will come a point when the playground must be permanently closed for safety reasons until the new playground is complete.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding during this transition and look forward to welcoming families back to a refreshed and improved playground once the project is finished.

We are looking forward to seeing you at our Spring Clean Up Day! This Saturday from 9 am to noon. Meet at the small shelter in Eckhardt Park and we will show you what to do! Bring your own work gloves and a spade, clipper and/or hand saw if you have them. We will be preparing some flower beds, clearing trails, and cleaning up deadwood and sticks. And don't worry, there is plenty for kids to do as well! What a great way to spend the day in our beautiful parks!

We plan to have more events throughout the summer, so stay tuned!

With the potential for severe weather to develop this afternoon and evening, the City of Viroqua will open the Community Safe Room for the public to shelter in. The Safe Room, located in the lower level of Viroqua City Hall at 124 West Decker Street, will be open from 12:00pm on Friday, April 17 until the storms pass through this evening.

The Safe Room was built to resist wind forces, wind-driven rains, and other debris impacts from a storm. The space is equipped to provide access to basic essentials including bathrooms, portable water, minimal food, basic sanitation, basic first aid, and electricity.

In case of an emergency, please call 911.
