You can still apply online or over the phone for Individual Assistance for the storms in April through next Monday the 31st.

At 302 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Holmen to 7 miles west of Dakota, moving
southeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. Winds to 50 mph have been reported with this storm.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

2 weeks left to apply for FEMA Assistance following the April storms. If you applied and received a letter read it carefully. If you have questions we encourage you to reach out to FEMA.

The Disaster Recovery Center at Our Saviors Church will continue to be open until Friday August 28th from 830am to 6pm Monday through Friday.

If you were affected by storms or flooding April 13-23, you have TWO WEEKS left to apply for FEMA assistance.

You can apply now at DisasterAssistance.gov. Your application will still be processed after the deadline passes.

A community can look prepared from the outside, but there is a lot of thought behind that readiness. Someone has considered what could go wrong, where a plan might fall short, what resources could be needed, and how different parts of the community would respond.

Those decisions are made with the hope that they will never have to be tested, but the goal is to make sure people aren't starting from scratch when they are.

Small Business Administration (SBA) loans are available alongside FEMA Individual Assistance. SBA provides low interest loans for homeowners, renters, and businesses.

With August being National Emergency Management Awareness Month, the Vernon County Board of Supervisors officially proclaimed August as National Emergency Management Awareness month recognizing the often-silent work being done by Emergency Managers locally, across the State, and Nationally.
