Chief Jason Salazar announces the promotion of Agent Bill Diltz to the position of Sergeant.Bill began his employment with the Visalia Police Department in 2002. Prior to his employment with the Visalia Police Department, Bill was employed with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office for over five years.
During his employment with the Visalia Police Department, Bill has been assigned to the Patrol Bureau and the Field Training Unit. He has also served as a member of the Department’s Rapid Response Team and as a Weaponless Defense Instructor.
In 2007, Bill was promoted to Agent and transferred to the Violent Crimes Unit. He worked in that assignment until 2011when he was transferred to District One Patrol. As the Patrol Agent, Bill has supervised shifts, delegated COPPS assignments, as well as assisted in implementing the Trespass Enforcement Program.
Bill currently supervises the Commercial Policing Unit and the Crime Prevention Unit. He is also the Vice President of California Law Enforcement’s Wish Upon A Star and active with Redwood Band Boosters.
Bill has an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the College of the Sequoias and a Bachelor of Science Degree from California State University - Sacramento.
Bill’s promotion will be effective Saturday, March 5, 2016.
