Sharing this response here as I don't think it should be buried in a random string of comments it should be it's own post. The photo is what started this .
We are not the City of Visalia we are volunteers that work to raise funds to improve our community amenties. We do not believe we should be taxed for everything we want, we believe people will work, volunteer, donate, and participate in making the changes they would like to see. Until the disrespectful few in our community stop doing horrible things to our public spaces. i.e. burnouts that cause hundreds of thousands of dollars in damaged to fields, stop leaving drugs, needles, used condom, human f***s, and other nasty things in our recreation areas what choice do they have but to fence to protect.
The best way for you to make a change is to take your complaints or concerns beyond social media and be a part of the people working to make change. Your voice will only be heard if you speak at the Parks & Recreation Commission meets on the second Tuesday evening of each month at 5:30 P.M. (unless otherwise announced and publicly noticed). Meetings are held at the Visalia City Hall Council Chambers located at 707 West Acequia Avenue, in downtown Visalia.
Or Visalia City Council, meetings are typically held on the first and third Mondays of each month. Location: Meetings are held in the Council Chambers at City Hall
, located at 707 W. Acequia, Visalia, CA 93291.
• Work Session: Starts at 4:00 p.m..
• Regular Session: Starts at 7:00 p.m..
The next scheduled meeting is on Monday, February 17, 2026.
We are always happy to have volunteers as well.
If you want better, if you want change, if you want to see your community parks and recreation areas open and inviting...get out here or there and use them. Participate in discussions with the City at council meeting speak with the recreation department and commission.
Love our parks by going out and enjoying them.
