Cutler Incident June 12, 2026
On June 12, 2026, at approximately 1345 hours, Engine 4 (E4) from the Cutler-Orosi Fire Station reported an unknown type of fire in the area of Avenue 400 and Road 140 in the community of Cutler.
Additional resources were requested while enroute to the incident. Upon arrival, E4 established command (Cutler IC) and advised FireComm (County Fire Dispatch) of a debris fire that had extended into the vegetation with 3 residential structures immediately threatened.
While engaged in fire suppression activities, E4 was advised by a Tulare County Sheriff’s Deputy that one of the houses located to the east of the main incident was being impacted by fire.
Cutler IC requested a second alarm response and an ambulance to the incident for standby.
During an aggressive primary search of the residence, crews located and removed one victim who was in full cardiac arrest. On-scene EMS and fire personnel immediately began CPR. The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital for further treatment. At the time of transport, the victim had regained a pulse and was breathing.
Three firefighters were treated and transported to a local hospital for heat related injuries. During the incident crews on scene were faced with multiple challenges from downed powerlines to extreme heat and rapidly changing fire conditions. A total of 32 personnel were assigned to the incident.
