Crews continue making progress at the scene of the overturned big-rig crash that occurred around 1:45 AM on southbound I-5 near the Aliso Creek Rest Area.

✅ The damaged guardrail has now been repaired✅ Merchandise from the semi-truck has been removed🚛 Tow crews are currently in the process of getting the truck upright

Traffic delays remain in the area as CHP, Caltrans, and heavy-duty tow operators continue working toward fully reopening the roadway safely.

Due to an early morning overturned big-rig crash that occurred around 1:45 AM on southbound I-5 near the Aliso Creek Rest Area, traffic is heavily impacted.

As of 7:15 AM:
✅ Southbound lanes #3 and #4 are open
❌ Southbound lanes #1 and #2 remain closed
✅ Northbound #1 lane has reopened

CHP officers, tow personnel, Caltrans, and emergency crews continue working hard to safely clear the scene and fully reopen the roadway.

What started as a reckless driving enforcement stop quickly escalated into a major arrest.

During the stop, CHP Oceanside Officers discovered:
🔹 An illegally possessed firearm
🔹 Narcotics and drug paraphernalia
🔹 Multiple rounds of ammunition
🔹 Stolen identification cards

The driver was taken into custody and booked on multiple charges.

This incident is another reminder that proactive traffic enforcement helps remove dangerous drivers, illegal weapons, and criminal activity from our roadways before someone gets hurt.
