Volga Fire Department

Volga Fire Department The Volga Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1888 and serves both the City of Volga and its surrounding rural areas.

The VFD responds to approximately 75 calls per year of which about 70% are medical related. The Volga Fire and Rescue is a volunteer department of 28 members providing fire protection and emergency responder services to residents of Volga and surrounding rural areas. There is 911 access for all emergencies which includes first responder calls. The city has a state fire code rating of 7.

At last week's City Council meeting, Mayor Ken Fideler presented Jamie Russell a plaque for his last 6 years serving as the Volga Fire Department Chief.

We have greatly appreciated Jamie's leadership, tireless efforts responding to calls, upkeeping equipment, and all of his behind-the-scenes work that goes into leading a fire department.

Thank you, Jamie, for your continuous years of service and for all you have and continue to do for our community!

Its with great sadness that we say goodbye to one of our retired Firefighters. Steff served 20 years on the Volga Fire Department and was an active retired member, attending many of our events.

Congratulations to our own 5 Volga Firefighters who have completed thier certifications. And to all others that put in the hustle to level up! 💪

They did it! 👏🏻👏🏻 19 area firefighters from Brookings, Volga, Arlington, Bruce, Aurora, Groton, Lake Preston, and Madison have successfully completed the Certified Firefighter Course. The final step was to complete live fire evolutions at the training site burn towers. Well done!
