FLEC is Conducting Pole Inspections
Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative (FLEC) is utilizing a contractor, Alcan, to perform pole inspections and some treatment on poles in existing power line easements and rights of way. Contract crews will be working in easements around the Madisonville area (on lines feeding around parts of Madisonville around Wayman Road, Hwy 411 North, Stinnett Road, Kincaid Road, and into the Sunnyside Community) and in the Vonore area (on lines feeding parts of Vonore in the Niles Ferry Industrial area, Hwy. 411 feeding the roadways and subdivisions adjacent north and south of town, around the Niles Ferry Roadway to Brakebill School area, along Hwy. 360, at Kahite, and a little of Povo Roadway area into Corntassel. Also, we will have contract crews working to inspect poles in Greenback (from town north and south along Hwy 411 and the roadways feeding off of this State roadway into Blount County, along Old Niles Ferry Road, Brickmill Road, Ninemile Road; Springview Road, along Hwy 95 into the areas of Loudon County northeast of town, along Hwy. 72 East to the Indian Shadows subdivision, and along Morganton Roadway into the Maple Lane Area). Poles in parts of Friendsville (along parts of Hwy 321, Big Springs Road, Union Grove Road, and Walker Road) and lines in the Maryville zip codes (lines feeding into the communities of Chilhowee, Lanier, Six Mile, and all roadways adjacent and around Highway 129) will also be subject to pole inspection.
The contract employees will be working at poles located anywhere FLEC has a pole. Please let us know of any hazards that they may want to be aware of around the poles. The Cooperative is required to maintain its poles and other infrastructure on an ongoing basis to meet national guidelines. Through the checks being done, FLEC will have to change out some poles and will have others treated, if necessary, in hopes of getting many more years of service and stretching out the Cooperative’s Membership dollars.
The contractors will be utilizing vehicles marked with “Contractor for FLEC” while conducting the work. At no time should any of these contract employees ask to come into your home. As always, please notify FLEC of any concerns you may have in regard to persons acting on your Cooperative’s behalf. The Cooperative holds the trust you have of our efforts to a high standard and do not wish to ever violate the high ethical standards we have maintained for over 86 years.
Any questions or concerns can be addressed by calling FLEC’s offices at 1-877-353-2674, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; FLEC is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
