* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...A portion of northern Indiana, including the following
areas, Adams, Blackford, Cass IN, Fulton IN, Grant, Huntington,
Jay, Miami, Pulaski, Wabash, Wells and White.

* WHEN...Through Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Additional rainfall over areas that have had recent heavy
rainfall may lead to further flooding issues.

A weak cold front moves through tonight into Wednesday with a chance for showers and a few thunderstorms. Thunderstorms late this evening will be capable of gusty winds in excess of 40 mph in far northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan.

📣 UPPER WABASH BASIN UPDATE 📣

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineer is adjusting operations at JE Roush, Salamonie, and Mississinewa Lakes due to the decrease in downstream stages. Downstream stages on the Wabash River crested on Sunday, following the heavy rainfall last week, and have continued to decline.

Effective 18 August 2026, USACE will begin increasing outflows from the reservoirs as stages have begun to fall to safe levels downstream. Releases have increased to approximately 1,500 cfs at JE Roush Lake with Salamonie and Mississinewa to follow as downstream conditions allow.

The reservoir and dam are operating as designed. This is a planned and controlled operational adjustment based on current conditions.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to maintain minimum releases from J.E. Roush, Salamonie and Mississinewa lakes due to high downstream river stages following recent heavy rainfall.

Outflows will remain at minimum levels until downstream conditions allow releases to safely increase. J.E. Roush will be increased first, followed by Salamonie and Mississinewa as conditions allow. Operations will be reevaluated throughout the week.

These are planned, controlled adjustments, and all three dams and reservoirs are operating as designed.

There is a Moderate Risk (level 3 of 4) for excessive rainfall today south of US 30. There is a Flood Watch in effect over the Moderate Risk area through tonight. The ground south of US 30 is already so saturated that renewed flash flooding is likely to occur with multiple rounds of heavy rain and storms today. Rain rates could exceed 1-2 inches per hour at times.

A Flood Watch has been issued for areas south of US 30 for late tonight through Saturday evening. Additional rainfall amounts of over an inch are possible on Saturday and combined with the saturated conditions from recent rainfall, additional flooding is possible.
