Health insurance can feel like a whole other language. Whether you’re getting ready to turn 26 and figure it out on your own, exploring options beyond your current employer, or simply realizing you have no idea what all those insurance terms mean, we’ve got you!

Join us this Wednesday, October 21, as Carrie Rees from Chittick Insurance breaks down the basics and helps you learn which questions to ask to get the answers you need, whether you’re choosing coverage through your employer or exploring the marketplace.

You don’t need to know the right questions before you come. That’s what we’re here to help with!

Come ready to learn, ask questions, and feel a little more confident about navigating the world of health insurance. Because adulting is hard enough without having to figure everything out alone!

New Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) Work Requirements Begin in 2027

Starting January 1, 2027, certain Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) members will need to meet new monthly activity requirements to maintain their coverage.

If the requirements apply to you, you’ll generally need to complete 80 hours each month through qualifying activities such as:

Employment
Education or classes
Job training or an apprenticeship
Community service or volunteering

There are also exemptions for certain people, including some parents and caregivers, pregnant individuals, veterans with a 100% disability rating, people with disabilities or serious medical needs, and others who meet specific criteria.

Important: The 80-hour requirement can be met through a combination of qualifying activities.

What you can do now:
• Check whether you may qualify for an exemption
• Make sure your contact information is up to date
• Set up your FSSA Benefits Portal account
• Keep documentation of qualifying work, school, training, or volunteer activities

For the latest information and the official exemption list, visit the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s HIP Work Requirements information page.
