Amazing opportunity! We are looking for youth and families to be a part of the 4-H Pups and Learning (PAL) Program. The Pups and Learning (PAL) Program partners 4-H youth and their families with a 1-year-old assistance dog-in-training for six months. Youth attend training classes with the dog, take it on public outings, and learn about the lives and rights of people with disabilities. 4-H’ers and families will gain hands-on experience in dog training and help dogs practice core obedience and socialization skills for their future roles as assistance dogs. Participants also learn about the Americans with Disabilities Act. This rewarding program is an amazing way for youth to learn, provide a service, and allow you time to appreciate the dog in one opportunity!

·Youth ages 14-19 are eligible to be a part of this outstanding program opportunity.

·Youth and families should fill out an interest form, which will get you connected to a staff person to answer any questions you may have and learn more about the program. Interest form due October 26! (Completing this form doesn’t lock you into the program or guarantee dog placement

·After connecting with staff, you will be invited to complete the volunteer paperwork with Can Do Canines for placement approval if you choose.

·You will be required to attend an orientation session on either November 9 or December 7 at Can Do Canines in New Hope, MN

·Dogs will be placed on January 22, with placement lasting until June.

·Showcase opportunity at the Minnesota State Fair in 2027

Sidney B and Jonathan R, 4-H members from the Minnesota
Midgets 4-H club, have been selected as 2026–2027 Minnesota 4-H Agriculture Ambassadors.

Sidney and Jonathan were selected for their passion for agriculture, Agriscience, commitment to 4-H, and interest in sharing agricultural knowledge with others. They are among 28 youth
leaders selected to represent Minnesota 4-H and agriculture during the 2026–2027 program year.

Sidney and Jonathan join a cohort of 26 outstanding youth leaders—ranging from 10th graders to first-year college students—who represent communities across Minnesota. Building on the work of past teams who reached thousands of youth through hands-on agriculture education and advocacy projects, this new team is stepping up to lead.
The Minnesota 4-H Agriculture Ambassador program gives youth opportunities to build
leadership, communication, and teamwork skills while promoting agriculture and educating
communities statewide.

Ambassadors serve from Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027.

Throughout the year, Sidney and Jonathan, along with fellow ambassadors, will lead hands-on youth workshops in 4-H Plant Science, support programs such as 4-H and FFA Crop Scouting, and represent Minnesota 4-H at community and statewide events, including Farmfest, the Women in Agriculture Leadership Conference, county fairs, and the Minnesota State Fair. They will also connect with University of Minnesota researchers, commodity groups, and agribusiness professionals, and partner with schools and community organizations to promote agricultural literacy and help people understand where their food, fiber, and fuel come from, as well as the many industries and careers that support Minnesota agriculture.

This is the first time Wabasha County 4-H has been represented in this program, and we are very excited to have two outstanding ambassadors represent our county!

Join us on Monday! We are partnering with the Plainview Community Center to start monthly community programming opportunities.

We are happy to announce that the Plainview Community & Youth Center is partnering with
4-H!

The first program is open to all youth and will be on Monday, October 12th from 2:45-4:45. Kids and teens are welcome to come straight from school or anytime before we close at 4:45.

Youth can participate in hands-on activities such as making slime and stress balls, and learning relaxation techniques.

Olmsted County will be hosting an Officer and Volunteer Training on November 12th at Rochester Central Lutheran School. The focus of the volunteer training will be to allow clubs to collaborate and troubleshoot common challenges together. Registration is open on 4-H Online, and pizza will be provided.
Goodhue County Officer training will be November 24th at St. Luke Church, Goodhue (37750 County 6 Blvd, Goodhue, MN 55027) from 7-9PM. Supper will be provided, and sessions will be held for the following groups:

President/Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary/Reporter/Historian, Officer at Large, or Other Not Listed

Parliamentary Procedure is offered in the President/VP breakout. Please register if you plan to attend so we can plan for food and materials!
