Expanded benefits for our National Guard and Reservists. This is great news!

Planning ahead brings lasting peace of mind to loved ones. Burial benefits are not limited to federal cemeteries, with MDVA operating four State Veterans Cemeteries located in Little Falls, Preston, Duluth and Redwood Falls.

Minnesota recently expanded burial eligibility so honorably discharged National Guard members, Reservists and eligible spouses can now be laid to rest with military honors close to home.

Calling all Wabasha County Veterans. Roll Call, 1700, Monday November 9th at the American Legion in Plainview. Come and enjoy a free hamburger and drink to honor you for your service to our great Nation! Each Veteran will receive on Free burger (and side) and one free drink from the bar. Come visit with old friends, make a new one and connect with your CVSO. Thank you for being a part of the 7.4% club! That's the percentage of Veterans in Wabasha County. Today is Agent Orange Awareness day. Thank a Vietnam Veteran for their service! One misconception about Agent Orange is that it is a disease. That is FALSE. Agent Orange was a chemical herbicide used during the Vietnam War to destroy dense jungle foliage and crops that provided cover for the enemy forces. It is not a disease, it is not contagious and it can not be passed on to children. Unfortunately, Agent Orange is known to cause a number of medical conditions. If you are a Vietnam Veteran or know one and they have medical conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Ischemic Heart Disease or Parkinson's to name a few. Or, if you/they have Bladder Cancer, Hodgkin's disease, B-Cell Leukemia, Multiple Myeloma, Prostate Cancer, Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or respiratory cancers.
