The latest fraud tactic targeting Veterans involves sending fake postcards claiming you're entitled to “extra VA benefits” or additional payments.

Today is Agent Orange Awareness day. Thank a Vietnam Veteran for their service! One misconception about Agent Orange is that it is a disease. That is FALSE. Agent Orange was a chemical herbicide used during the Vietnam War to destroy dense jungle foliage and crops that provided cover for the enemy forces. It is not a disease, it is not contagious and it can not be passed on to children. Unfortunately, Agent Orange is known to cause a number of medical conditions. If you are a Vietnam Veteran or know one and they have medical conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Ischemic Heart Disease or Parkinson's to name a few. Or, if you/they have Bladder Cancer, Hodgkin's disease, B-Cell Leukemia, Multiple Myeloma, Prostate Cancer, Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or respiratory cancers. Are you looking for some quality food here in the city of Wabasha? Check out Herb+Arrow Bar Kitchen on Main St in Wabasha. This is a veterans owned restaurant. They offer a lunch and dinner menu and have a onsite bar. Check them out if you haven't!

One way that we can help veterans is by supporting our local veterans business. I am often asked if there are local veteran owned business (especially in the trades) that people can support. I know we have a number of great veteran owned businesses here in Wabasha County.

Come see your VSO at the Wabasha County Fair on Wednesday (15 July 2026). I'll be in the Open Class Building from 10AM until the end of the day.
