The mission of Esther’s Closet is to enhance women’s lives by providing professional workwear, workforce development skills, and educational pathways for career advancement. Our program prepares participants to develop new habits, support revenue growth, and establish new ways of thinking. We teach participants to perform and dress professionally while taking action to control their own destiny. G
OALS AND OBJECTIVES
Esther’s Closet’s is a self-sufficiency program designed to equip women and children to escape the imprisonment of poverty. We provide interview and workplace outfits at no charge to unemployed women and those seeking new positions, as well as, resume writing and job performance skills to help women thrive in the workplace. The Esther's Closet program does not look down on these women or assume they are victims of their own decisions but welcomes them. The program exposes participants to a new set of rules with prospects to enable them to build bridges to a system of financial stability. Poverty steals your confidence and produces generational shame. We help participants recognize the importance of dressing well for job interviews and their job; operating on the premise of “dress for the job you want, not the job you have.” The program provides women with a complete outfit for a job interview. When a participant receives a position, they are outfitted for 7 to 10 days. In our support of women escaping the mental barriers and scariness of poverty, we realized that even with the assistance provided to our clients to help them prepare to take on new challenges it is for naught if their children are not equally equipped with the same preparedness to face their own challenges. This year we are adding a year-round school uniform donation initiative to our program. Our program will collect school uniforms throughout the year and distribute them to local families in need during the school year-round.
