Cleveland County Government Offices will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day.

Please note that all convenience sites and landfills will observe a modified holiday schedule — open Friday, July 3, and closed Saturday, July 4. All sites will resume normal operating hours on Monday, July 6.

Severe storms are possible this afternoon into tonight across parts of the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia.

Damaging winds will be the main hazard, but isolated tornadoes are also possible, mainly this evening south of I-85 in northeast Georgia and the South Carolina Upstate. Any tornadoes that develop will likely be brief and weak.

Make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings, and be ready to move to a safe indoor location if storms approach your area.
