We appreciate the communityโ€™s feedback

The recent jiu-jitsu session was not intended to suggest mastery from a single class. Rather, it is one component of ongoing, layered training our officers participate in throughout their careers. This session focused on reinforcing foundational principles such as control, body positioning, and de-escalation techniques. These skills are continuously developed over time through repeated training and real-world application.

Our priority is the safety of our students, staff, and community. Providing officers with a variety of training opportunities helps improve decision-making, reduce the likelihood of injury, and emphasize control-based responses whenever possible.

We remain committed to transparency, professionalism, and continuous improvement. We value the trust placed in us and will continue working to serve our community with the highest standards of care and accountability.

Waco ISD Officers had the privilege of participating in hands-on jiu-jitsu training instructed by Deputy Reyna with the Mclennan County Sheriff's Office. This valuable training focused on control techniques, body mechanics, and defensive tactics to help officers continue building their skills and readiness.

Now that students are out of summer break, our Police Department takes this opportunity to train and stay up to date on required courses. Yesterday, our campus safety guards participated in a full day of training that included gang presentations, medical response, CRASE, equipment training, radio communications, handcuffing techniques, and ended the day with physical fitness.

Thank you to all of the instructors for providing valuable training and refreshers to help keep our staff prepared and ready to serve our campuses safely.

This Memorial Day, the Texas Police Chiefs Association pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protecting the freedoms we hold dear will never be forgotten.
As we gather with family and friends this holiday weekend, may we take time to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Today, and every day, we honor their legacy with gratitude and respect.

We are excited to introduce our newest officer, Paul Serrano. Officer Serrano brings over 10 years of law enforcement experience and a caring heart for serving others. He is just as excited as we are to bring his skills, dedication, and support to our staff and students.

Please help us give Officer Serrano a warm welcome to our department!

Small gestures like this truly mean so much to us.

"They are nice and helpful."
"Officer Thomas, I appreciate your advice and you playing football with us."
"I get to say Hi to an officer every time."
"Kids need more programs like this!"
