🎉 Fun Fact Friday 🎉

Did you know there’s meaning behind every detail of the Historic Waco logo? 👀✨

The orange and blue color scheme actually comes from our historic houses! 🏡 The orange is inspired by the brick found on all three of our historic house museums, while the blue matches the paint on Hoffmann House—our headquarters.

Take a closer look and you’ll spot even more history hidden in the design:
🔸 The arch in the “H” reflects the arches above the doors of our historic homes
🔹 The center of the “W” is shaped like a Waco Indian grass house

Together, these elements represent the homes of Wacoans both before and after the city was established in 1849—bringing our community’s history full circle. ❤️

Next time you see our logo, you’ll know there’s a story behind it!

🕰️ What Is It Wednesday 🕰️

Today’s featured item is a beautiful piece of musical history! 🎶✨

This Lyon & Healy harp was manufactured in 1894 in Chicago, IL. Local harpist Willie Baker Miller (Mrs. E.D. McCaa) purchased the instrument for $872.00 — which would be about $30,000–$50,000 today! It was also the very first harp the company ever sent to Texas. 🤯

Even more special, the chair you see with it was also donated by the harpist herself. ❤️

This stunning harp and chair can be seen at the East Terrace House Museum — a true glimpse into the elegance and artistry of the past.

Have you ever seen this harp in person? Or did you know this piece of Waco history? We’d love to hear your thoughts and memories! 👇

Would you step back into the Wild West days, experience life in the early 1900s, or go even further back in time? 🤔

Share your answer in the comments — we’d love to hear where you’d go and what you’d want to experience! 👇

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. ❤️

Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice have given us the freedoms we enjoy today, and we are forever grateful.

As we spend time with family and friends, let us also take a moment to reflect, remember, and honor those who gave everything.
