This page will be updated on a regular basis with the goal of sharing positive news and timely information about Waco ISD, including the achievements of students and staff as well as other relevant district information. The intent of this policy is not to keep any negative or critical information from being posted, but to protect the privacy and rights of Waco ISD staff and students. Naming specific employees or students in a negative way will not be allowed. The page administrators will review all postings to make sure they do not violate the rules or the District’s Acceptable Use Guidelines regarding Internet access and practices. Your thoughts and comments are welcome; however, please remember that this is a public forum. Therefore, postings that violate or infringe upon Waco ISD guidelines and policies will be deleted. Please remember that all postings and comments to this Fan Page are subject to the Public Information Act, chapter 552, of the Government Code. The Act provides a mechanism for citizens to inspect or copy government records. Any information collected, assembled, or maintained by or for a governmental body is subject to the Public Information Act. The format (paper, electronic, microfilm, etc.) of the record does not affect its status as a public record. In addition, Waco ISD will delete postings that:

• Break the law or encourage others to do so. This includes respecting copyright and fair use laws. If you are talking about somebody else’s work, please reference this or the person, and where possible, include a link.

• Contain abusive or inappropriate language or statements. This includes remarks that are racist, homophobic and sexist as well as those which are sexually explicit or contain obscenities.

• Easily identify students and/or staff in defamatory, abusive, or generally negative terms.

• Do not show proper consideration for others’ privacy or are considered likely to offend or provoke others – i.e., don’t pick fights or goad others into inflammatory debates. Nobody likes a bully!

• Is spam – i.e., repeatedly posting the same comment or comments that are simply advertising or promoting a service or product. If you wouldn’t want to receive it yourself, please do not post it. The page administrators reserve the right to remove any comments at any time, for any reason. In summary, when using the Waco ISD Facebook Fan Page, please follow the simple tenet of the time-tested Golden Rule: Treat others as you want to be treated. If you have a response or would like to report an inappropriate comment for us to review, please send an email to [email protected].
