Association for Rural Education and Advancement

Association for Rural Education and Advancement The Association for Rural Education and Advancement We believe this future is within our reach.

The Association for Rural Education and Advancement consists of men and women with roots deep in the smallest towns of Texas. After having achieved academic success and professional fulfillment, the desire to give back to these small communities led us to create this association with an understanding of the unique plight these students endure. We hope to work with the local high schools of these c

ommunities to provide an educational resource for their students. We will begin by offering an annual scholarship for graduating seniors and hope to expand our efforts with the assistance of people like yourself. Our vision is one of thriving small towns where any student can find challenge and acceptance in their academic and professional careers.

The Association for Rural Education and Advancement is pleased to announce the winners of our first annual scholarship award. We were very impressed with both the strength of all the applications and the sheer quantity that arrived.

Our $1000 scholarship has been awarded to Kasandra Mullins from Covington ISD. Kasandra is interested in pursuing a career as a pharmacist and has been accepted to Texas Tech University.

We also chose to award an additional $500 scholarship to Michael Vallon of Abbott ISD. Michael will attend Texas A&M university and after graduation hopes to return to the region and open a veterinarian clinic specializing in large animals.

We would like offer our congratulations and best wishes to both of these students.

We would also like to offer our heart-felt appreciation to those of you who donated to the fund. It's though generosity like yours that we will be able to continue helping our rural students.
