Red Vest Day and day 1 of our renovation was a success! Seven Lowe’s associates came ready to work today -- and work they did! They tackled some major tasks in our conference room, removing old wallpaper and carpet and scraping away stubborn floor adhesive.

We took group photos at the start and end of the day, and we're happy to report that the smiles were still there after hours of hard work. 😃

Thank you Velia, John, Don, Lucy, Addy, Edrian and Luis for your time, energy, and enthusiasm in helping to transform our space!

Tomorrow, we're back for Day 2, with more floor scraping and drywall repairs in the conference room, lobby, and hallway.

This renovation is made possible through funding from Lowe’s Community Impact Grant and the generous support of a growing number of community partners.

Stay tuned! We're just getting started!

🔨🦺 We're gearing up for Red Vest Day!

Tomorrow, we're rolling up our sleeves and kicking off an exciting renovation project at Meals on Wheels Waco!

Thanks to a $25,000 Lowe's Community Impact Grant, our conference room and lobby are getting a much-needed makeover! Tomorrow's Red Vest Day will bring together Lowe's associates and our team to tackle the first phase of the transformation.

We're excited to see this project come to life and grateful to Lowe's for investing in spaces that help us better serve our older neighbors.

Stay tuned for photos and updates!

Oh, what a night! 🤠🎶

Our 2026 Wild Game Dinner & Concert last September 12 was one for the books! Thanks to the tremendous generosity and enthusiasm of our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and guests, this year's event was another wonderful celebration of community coming together to support our older neighbors.

We are especially grateful to our gracious hosts, Kay and Lyndon Olson, for once again opening their beautiful ranch to us. Our heartfelt thanks also go to Event Co-Chairs Roger Schmidt and Tom Hill, along with the entire Event Committee, for their leadership, dedication, and hard work in bringing it all together.

A big shout-out to Pat Green and his crew for the musical performance, and to Chuck Mutz of Black Tie Auctions for keeping the excitement going during our live auction!

And, of course, a HUGE THANK YOU to all our sponsors, auction, bid board and raffle donors, wild game donors and chefs, volunteers, and everyone who helped make the evening such a success. We couldn't have done it without you!

We also want to give a special shout-out to BP Services of Waco, who came to our rescue at the last minute with an emergency generator. Talk about saving the day! 👏

📸 Now, let's relive the fun! We've put together a special recap of this year's event, complete with photos capturing the wonderful people and memorable moments that made the evening so special.

🐾 They did it again! 🐾

A huge shout-out to our friends at Woodway Family Center for another incredible pet food drive! Their generous community collected more than 307 pounds of pet food for our Meals for Paws program. 🐶🐱 That’s 307+ pounds helping make sure the beloved pets of the seniors we serve have full bowls, too.

We’re so grateful to Woodway Family Center -- and to everyone who donated -- for continuing to show up for our seniors and their four-legged companions. ❤️

A little while ago, we asked YOU to help us rename our pet food program -- and you delivered!

Our staff has voted and the winning name is.... 🥁 drumroll, please...

MEALS FOR PAWS! 🐾

Not one, not two, but THREE of our followers suggested the winning name! Clearly, great minds --  and animal lovers -- think alike. 😂👏 A big shout-out to Catherine Corpman, Rana Salazar, and Gigi Gutierrez for helping us give this special program its new name!

Through Meals for Paws, we help make sure our homebound older neighbors don't have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding the pets they love. Because sometimes the best way to care for a senior is to care for the four-legged companion by their side, too. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who shared ideas, voted, and helped us find the perfect fit.

As churches in our community prepare to celebrate the traditional Blessing of the Animals, we’re reminded of the special place pets hold in our lives -- and especially in the lives of many homebound seniors.

For someone who spends much of the day at home, a beloved dog or cat can be so much more than a pet. They can be a constant companion, a source of comfort, a reason to smile and a reassuring presence on a quiet day.

That’s why Meals on Wheels Waco’s care for our older neighbors extends to the furry companions who share their homes. Through our pet program, we help make sure our seniors don’t have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding a beloved friend.

Sometimes being a good Neighbor for Seniors means remembering the little family members curled up beside them, too. ❤️🐾
