CAMERON PARK ZOO — Good morning from our black-footed cats!

Did you know that black-footed cats are the smallest cat species in Africa – and arguably the deadliest?
These solitary felines typically weigh just 2–5 pounds, yet they boast an incredible hunting success rate of nearly 60%, averaging a kill every 30–50 minutes during a night of hunting. For comparison, lions are successful only about 20–30% of the time!

Despite their tiny size, black-footed cats are fearless, opportunistic hunters. In the wild, they prey on small mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects.

Make plans to visit them at the Cameron Park Zoo today!
