EOAC: Moving Families Forward EOAC moves families forward by connecting them to opportunities that build lasting stability. Every family thriving.

Serving children, families, and community members across the Heart of Texas since 1966. The Economic Opportunities Advancement Corporation is a private non-profit organization, chartered by the State of Texas on April 25, 1966. The purpose for which the agency was created is to implement and carry out the provisions of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. This act recognizes that the United States can achieve its economic and social potential as a nation only if every individual has the opportunity to contribute to the full elimination of poverty in McLennan, Bosque, Freestone, Limestone, Hill, Falls, Johnson, Ellis, and Navarro Counties. This is done by opening to everyone the opportunity to work, live in decency and dignity; and to strengthen, supplement and coordinate other efforts in the 9 counties.

October is National Energy Awareness Month, a reminder that energy stability is closely connected to family stability.

For many households, high utility costs or an inefficient home can create stress that reaches far beyond a monthly bill. It can affect health, safety, household budgets, and a family’s ability to plan for the future.

Through Energy Assistance and Weatherization, EOAC helps eligible community members take steps toward safer, more efficient, and more stable homes.

This work is part of EOAC’s broader commitment to helping families build lasting stability. When families have support with basic needs, they have more room to focus on work, school, health, and long-term opportunity.

It takes a community to create opportunity.

Families, child care providers, schools, employers, and community partners all have a role to play in building a stronger early learning system.

Through EOAC’s Early Learning Access work, we are helping connect partners, align resources, and expand opportunities so more children can start strong and more families can move forward.

Because early learning is not just a family issue. It is a community issue.

Invest early. The benefits last.

Quality early childhood education helps children build the foundation they need for learning, health, confidence, and long-term success. It also supports parents, strengthens the workforce, and creates benefits that can continue for generations.

At EOAC, we see early learning as one of the most meaningful investments a community can make.

When children start strong, families move forward.

A special visit from some of our community heroes!

Last week, our Thurman E. Dorsey Head Start Center welcomed members of the Waco Fire Department for a fun and educational visit focused on fire safety!

Our children had the opportunity to learn important safety lessons directly from the firefighters who help keep our community safe.

We are so thankful for our first responders, not only for the important work they do every day, but also for the time they take to connect with children, answer questions, and make learning about safety fun and memorable.

Thank you, Waco Fire Department, for investing in our youngest learners and for being such a wonderful community partner!

Early learning makes work possible.

Across Texas, many young children live in families where parents are working or trying to stay connected to the workforce. For those families, dependable early learning is not just convenient. It is essential.

When parents have access to safe, reliable early childhood programs, they are better able to work, attend school, pursue training, and build stability for their families.

Supporting children also supports parents, employers, and the future workforce of our community.

Strong children begin with strong opportunities.

More than 16,600 children under age 5 call McLennan County home. Every one of them represents a future full of possibility.

When families can access quality early learning, children are better positioned for school and parents are better positioned for work.

At EOAC, we believe early learning access is not only about today. It is about helping children, families, and our whole community move forward.

October is National Energy Awareness Month, and EOAC is highlighting the ways energy support can help families build stronger, more stable homes.

For many households, an unexpected utility bill or an inefficient home can create real stress. EOAC’s Energy Assistance and Weatherization programs help eligible community members take steps toward safer, more comfortable, and more energy-efficient homes.

Support with basic needs can make a meaningful difference for a family. When homes are more stable, families have more room to focus on work, school, health, and the future.

If you or someone you know is struggling with energy costs or home energy needs, EOAC may be able to help.

Thank you to the City of Marlin Fire Department for visiting our Marlin Head Start Center last week to teach children about fire safety! 🚒

Our Head Start children learned important safety lessons, including what to do in an emergency and how to stop, drop, and roll.

The children had a wonderful time learning from our local firefighters, and we are grateful for community partners who help make learning fun, memorable, and meaningful.

Strong starts include safety, confidence, and caring community connections.

In recognition of World Mental Health Day, EOAC is reminding families that emotional well-being is an important part of a child’s overall health and development.

When children feel safe, supported, and connected, they are better able to learn, grow, and build confidence.

Parents and caregivers play such an important role. Take a moment today to check in with your child. Ask how they are feeling, listen with care, reassure them, and remind them that it is okay to ask for help.

At EOAC, Head Start supports the whole child through early learning, health, nutrition, family engagement, school readiness, and emotional well-being.

Healthy minds help children, families, and communities thrive.
