Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11. We remember those who lost their lives, honor the bravery of first responders, and reflect on the resilience and unity that emerged in the wake of tragedy. May we continue to carry forward their memory and the lessons of that day.

On September 11, we pause to remember the lives lost, honor the heroes who responded, and reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and unity that followed.

The Waconia Fire Department invites the community to join us on Friday, September 11, from 5–7 PM for an evening of remembrance and reflection.

During the open house:
• A video sharing the history of September 11 will be playing in the training room.
• Fire station doors will be open from 5–7 PM for community members to visit, see the station, have a refreshment, and connect with our firefighters.
• Most importantly, there will be an opportunity to honor, remember, and pay respects to those who lost their lives and to the many first responders who answered the call.

We invite you to stop by for a few minutes—or stay awhile—as we come together as a community to remember.

🚒🔥 Congratulations Brandon!

Congratulations to Firefighter Brandon Kolesar on his retirement from the Waconia Fire Department after 30 years of dedicated service to the Waconia community.

Brandon was recognized for his commitment and service during the May 4, 2026 City Council Meeting, surrounded by fellow firefighters, city leaders, family, and friends. Over the past three decades, Brandon has answered the call countless times — serving with professionalism, courage, and dedication to protecting our community. He was also an instrumental part of creating the City’s fire prevention program, which continues to educate more than 500 children each year.

Thank you, Brandon, for your years of service, leadership, and commitment to the City of Waconia. We wish you all the best in retirement! 🚒👏
