The Maintenance Department has been currently working on some right of way brush clearing. Brushing will continue to take place along sections of CSAH 7 this week.
🌲Brush is defined as shrubs, bushes and small trees.
🪵 Brush control practices are based on the following objectives:
▪️ Maintain adequate sight distance ▪️ Prevent trees from becoming established, which may eventually become a roadside obstacle ▪️ Prevent snow drifting problems caused by brush ▪️ Remove brush from obstructing drainage feature areas
🪚 The brush control method of choice for WCHD is physical. We cut with hand tools and remove with mechanical equipment.

2026 MS Ride Across Minnesota biking event will be happening next week (July 27-31). There will be many bikers present on roads throughout the County from July 27-31. Specifically, the event runs through Wadena County on Days 1,2,3, & 5.
Watch for bikers and drive safe‼️

Scheduled to begin: **** Tuesday, July 21st, 2026 ⬇️
🔶 Location: CSAH 18 (Huntersville Rd), from CSAH 12 (Ni**od Rd) to Old Bridge Road (Huntersville) See Map
🔶The road will be down to one lane. Slow down, be prepared to stop, follow flaggers instructions and help keep the work zone safe.
🔶Construction will include: Bituminous Milling, Stabilized Reclamation, Bituminous Resurfacing & Aggregate Shouldering. Length of work: 11.327 Miles.
Project is expected to be complete mid August, weather permitting.

Beginning Today, Tuesday, June 9th 2026 ⬇️
🔶 Location: CSAH 23, from CSAH 6 (200th St) to CSAH 12 (280th St, Ni**od Tar) See Map
🔶The road is down to one lane. Slow down, be prepared to stop, follow flaggers instructions and help keep the work zone safe.
🔶Construction will include: Bituminous Mill & Overlay, Aggregate Shouldering & Pavement Markings. Length of work: 8.020 Miles.
Project is expected to last a couple weeks, weather permitting.

2026 Aggregate Surfacing Project Information ⏩️
*️⃣Aggregate Surfacing for 2026 has begun.
*️⃣The Contractor is currently graveling CR 140.
*️⃣Our Graveling Project will run all summer, with an estimated completion date of August 28th, 2026.
*️⃣See map for roads (marked in red) that will be graveled in 2026. (In no specific order: CR 106, CR 139, CR 140, CR 144, CR 145, CR 151, CR 164). Approximately 25.10 miles in total.
*️⃣All roads will remain open to traffic while graveling is taking place.
‼️Please watch for slow moving equipment & increased semi traffic in these areas. Help to keep work zones safe‼️

📣Construction Announcement for May 26th & May 27th - CSAH 18, Huntersville Road. 🚧 Signs were placed yesterday to notify traffic of the upcoming temporary road closures for next week.
There will be two culverts replaced on CSAH 18 next week. Culvert "A" on May 26th and culvert "B" on May 27th (weather permitting).
Each replacement is scheduled to not last longer than 1 work day. See Map for detour.
➡️Culvert "A" Tuesday May 26th - Detour 145, 151, 15
➡️Culvert "B" Wednesday May 27th - Detour 154, 155, 19
📍These culverts are being replaced in preparation for the road work that will be done on CSAH 18 this summer.
📍Approximate timeline for the work being done from CSAH 12 (Ni**od) to Old Bridge Road in Huntersville is July 6th - Aug 27th.
📍There are no detours planned for this project, the road will have traffic control in place.
📍Type of work being done this summer: Bituminous Milling, Stabilized Reclamation, Bituminous Resurfacing & Aggregate Shouldering.

📣Announcement for Friday May 15th.
Students from Sebeka High School will be picking up litter from roadside ditches on FRIDAY MAY 15TH from 9am – 11:15am.
❗️PLEASE watch for them and slow down when you pass by them❗️
See map for the approximate routes they plan to be on tomorrow.
👏Thank you Sebeka Public School PreK-12 for helping to keep our Wadena County roadside ditches clean.
