This evening Interim Wadesboro Police Chief J. Eschert took the Oath of Office at the Wadesboro Town Hall Meeting. Chief Eschert is pictured with Debbie Cox, Wadesboro Town Clerk, and Chief Theddis Spencer, Retired Wadesboro Police Chief. Chief Eschert brings 17 years of valuable law enforcement experience. On Thursday January 30th at approximately 8:18
am, Anson County Emergency Communications received a call concerning an individual suffering from a gunshot wound. Wadesboro Police Department officers were dispatched at 8:19 am to Shelton Circle and E. Wade St.

Multiple Wadesboro Police Department units arrived on scene at 8:21 am. Upon arrival, officers located a victim inside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound, he was deceased. Responding officers quickly located a second victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and immediately rendered aid to the victim, until Anson County EMS arrived on scene. Anson County Sheriff's Office also aided responding city officers.

One victim was transported Atrium Health Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.

The investigation into this case is ongoing and active, but there is no threat to the general public at this time.

Wadesboro Police Department has requested the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to assist in the investigation.

Shooting Investigation: Dollar General 1301 East Caswell Street Wadesboro, NC 28170.

At approximately 3:54pm January 29, 2025, The Wadesboro Police Department responded to Dollar General, located at 1301 East Caswell Street, in response to (2) victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Once officers arrived on scene, it was determined that only (1) victim was shot; the second victim was suffering from an injury related to the shooting.The victims, whose names are being withheld at this time, were transported to area hospitals for medical treatment and are expected to be ok. This is an ongoing investigation; updates will be provided once additional information becomes available.
