Meet “Lucky” 🍀🐶

This sweet brown puppy was found running near US 74 and was safely rescued by Sgt. Yarbrough before she could be struck by traffic. Thankfully, Lucky is safe and in good hands.

Anson County Animal Shelter has been contacted and will be picking her up. If you are interested in giving Lucky a forever home, please contact the animal shelter for additional information.

On May 18, 2026, Detective Sergeant Daigle of the Wadesboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division was honored with the 2025 North Carolina SBI ICAC Task Force Investigator of the Year Award.

The award recognizes exceptional dedication, investigative excellence, and commitment to protecting children from online exploitation and abuse through the work of the North Carolina SBI ICAC Task Force.

The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a nationwide network of law enforcement officers and agencies dedicated to investigating, identifying, locating, and arresting online predators who solicit or exploit children. Through collaboration, advanced investigative techniques, and relentless commitment to public safety, ICAC investigators work daily to protect some of the most vulnerable members of our communities.

Detective Sergeant Daigle’s recognition reflects his professionalism, dedication, and tireless efforts in investigating crimes against children and bringing offenders to justice. His work has had a meaningful impact both locally and across North Carolina through cooperation with partner agencies and task force members.

As a result of the continued investigation into the May 1, 2026 incident at the Anson Inn, located at 1201 East Caswell Street, charges have been filed against Alisha Bennett (DOB: 10/23/1985).

Following further investigation conducted by the Wadesboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, Bennett was charged in Anson County with Felony Possession of Co***ne, Felony Possession of Controlled Substance on Jail Premises, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Obstructing Justice, False Report to Police, and Resisting a Public Officer. Bennett received no bond on these charges.

In addition to the Anson County charges, Bennett also has outstanding charges in Richmond County including DWI, multiple Hit and Run offenses, Driving While License Revoked, No Liability Insurance, School Attendance Law Violations, and three counts of Misdemeanor Child Abuse. Bennett was issued a secured bond of $25,000 for the out of county charges.
