The Wadsworth Fire Department is hosting its first informational meeting for high school students and their parents.

Date: Monday, September 14, 2026
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: Fire Station 1, 343 College Street

Who can join: Students who are at least 14 years old, have completed the 8th grade, and are currently in high school.

How to sign up: Attend the meeting with a parent. Students can register to become a cadet right on the spot.

Today, a powerful symbol of remembrance moved through our community. The Wall That Heals traveled past Fire Station 1. A police cruiser and a large group of motorcycle riders led the way. Families and school children stood on the sidewalk to watch. Firefighters stood outside the station to salute the sacred replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The fire vehicles lined the front of the fire station as the Memorial rolled by. It was deeply moving to witness this event.

As a new school year begins, we encourage all drivers to remain vigilant and exercise caution around school buses during daily commutes. Please stop immediately when school bus red lights are flashing to ensure the safety of students.

This week, members of the Wadsworth Fire and EMS Department conducted training on aerial truck operations and master stream deployment. Aerial trucks are imperative in the fire service because they provide quick and effective access to structures to perform victim rescues, roof ventilation, and large-volume water application.

Do you have an interest in firefighting? The first meeting for the Wadsworth Fire Department Cadet Program will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at Fire Station 1 (343 College Street).

This first meeting will be an informational meeting for parents to attend with the student. If the student is interested in becoming a Cadet they can sign up at this meeting.

Cadets participate in events with the Wadsworth Fire Department. They also receive hands on training.

Requirements of the program are being in high school and at least 14 years old with the completion of 8th grade.

National Night Out was held in the Kohl’s parking lot last evening. This was a free, community outreach event to meet first responders and tour the emergency vehicles.

Thank you to all who came out to the event and to all those who participated in National Night Out.

Wadsworth Fire & EMS Run Stats for July. July was our busiest month ever!!

This morning at approximately 7:58 a.m., members of the Wadsworth Fire Department were dispatched to a trailer fire on Interstate 76 Eastbound. Upon arrival, crews found a trailer on the side of the roadway that was heavily involved in fire. The first-arriving engine crew quickly extinguished the blaze while preventing further fire extension to the truck and the surrounding grassy area. The Norton Fire Department, the Wadsworth Police Department, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol provided additional manpower and traffic control. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The members of the Wadsworth Fire & EMS Department take pride in providing an efficient and timely response to all motor vehicle fires.
