Today, the Wadsworth Fire & EMS Department remembers and honors the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and other emergency responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001, as well as those who have since lost their lives to 9/11-related illnesses.

Among those heroes was Keith Roma, a member of the New York Fire Patrol. Roma and fellow Fire Patrol members responded to the World Trade Center, where he helped rescue civilians before tragically losing his life in the collapse. Because he served with the New York Fire Patrol rather than the FDNY, Roma is not included among the 343 FDNY members who died that day.

Today, we remember Keith Roma and all those who answered the call, ran toward danger, and gave their lives in service to others.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Chief Hontert proudly served the City of Wadsworth for many years and played a major role in shaping our department by personally hiring many of the union members who serve today. His dedication, leadership, and commitment to the fire service helped lay the foundation for the continued growth and success of the Wadsworth Fire & EMS Department. The Hontert family’s impact on this department and our community will never be forgotten.
