📢🚨On Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the request of Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), a statewide test of emergency alerting systems will occur between 10am and 12:30pm. As part of this drill, local jurisdictions across Texas may test systems used to notify the public during emergencies. Gonzales County will participate in this test. Because jurisdictions across the region may participate in this test, you may receive more than one test alert on your phone during the testing window.

This will only be a test. No emergency action is required.

Testing helps ensure emergency alert systems function properly and allows agencies to evaluate how alerts are delivered during real emergencies.

Good afternoon City of Waelder we would like to introduce are newly dedicated Police officer and wish her a happy birthday. It was a great first day of training. From showing her the police car to assigning of car keys. She even reminded me to take a doughnut break. I don't know about you but that is my kind of Police officer.

Good morning Gonzales County. We continue to dry out and it appears that we really don’t have any decent chance of moisture over the next seven days. Our current KBDI average is 611 so please be cautious and only burn when absolutely necessary. At this time Gonzales County is NOT in a burn ban but the risk of fires remain extremely high. Let’s keep our firefighters in mind please.

Good morning Gonzales County!
I thought I would take this opportunity to refresh your memory on illegal burning. As we continue to dry out, please remember these simple rules:

You may only burn between 1 hour after sunrise and 1 hour before sunset.
Wind speeds must be between 6mph and 23mph.
The smoke from the burn may not irritate any neighbors.
You may not burn prohibited items such as plastics, metal, treated lumber, rubber or asphaltic materials.
All allowable burn items must come from your property only.

Please call the Sheriff’s Office dispatch and notify them before the burn.

Our current KBDI rating is around 327 so that’s still good but it will rise without moisture. Let’s give our firefighters the courtesy of doing the right thing. Almost all of them are volunteers.
