Just an FYI for anyone that uses Live Oak Boulevard. The fire department is currently onscene of an incident. We have Live Oak Boulevard shut down between Water Oaks Drive and Rivet Boulevard. Please use alternate routes to go west of Water Oaks .
I will advise when its back open.

Today is recognized as International Firefighters Day. I want to start by thanking our very own Live Oak Firefighters for what they do. Of course thank you to our brother and sister firefighters from the 7th District Departments. Thank you to all of the firefighters from the westbank, eastbank, Kenner, Westwego, Harahan, Gretna and Lafitte. Thank you to all firefighters across our state and nation. You are all appreciated everyday, today is the day in honor of you all. God Bless and prayers of protection for each of you.

I wanted to get this information out to as many in our community as possible. I spoke last night at the S1 Civics group, which also has members from the Waggaman Civics Group and foundation group. I asked that emails also be sent to the members of each group.
We have had a couple of calls here at the department regarding fire hydrants located in front of some residences. The citizens were concerned if they were operating correctly.
Im aware of recent incidents being shared on social media and by news media stations. We did go out on these particular calls made and reassured the concerned citizens the hydrant was functioning properly. I wanted to also state that as a department, starting in February of 2026 through March 2026 we flowed and inspected the 400 plus hydrants in our immediate response area. During this time we located 3 fire hydrants with operating issues. These hydrants were listed, and emails sent to our contact person to have them repaired. 1 of the 3 have had the issue rectified immediately. The remaining 2 have been checked weekly since first notification, by myself. Additional contact was sent in and Im confident it will be rectified soon.
We are Waggaman and Waggaman is Us.
