Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is Dr. Marija Čolić and I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, in the Special Education Department. I am excited to invite you and your child to participate in a research study focused on improving social skills in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
The aim of this study is to develop and evaluate a play-based intervention program designed to enhance social interaction and communication skills in children with ASD. Participation in this study involves attending weekly group sessions where your child will engage in various play-based activities.
Participation in this study is voluntary, and you are free to withdraw at any time without penalty. Your child's participation or non-participation will not affect their grades, class standing, or relationship with any school or organization.
Families will receive a $50 stipend per semester to help cover transportation costs.

About: Researches at the University of Hawaii are looking for Autism children to join our play-based social skills project. Through this program, kids can learn social and play skills through play-based interventions.
Who we are looking for: Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis, ages 5 years old to 10 years old.
Stipend for parents: We offer $50 stipend for families
Where: University of Hawaii, Manoa Campus
Duration: About 10 sessions. Sundays from 9:00 am to 10:30 am during the semester. (January 25 - May 10, 2026)
