SSG Walsh is one of our 25ID Master Resilience Trainers (MRT) - Great testimonial!

https://fb.watch/1pTJxkj3wJ/

Cacti is #resilient and #ready!

On October 26th 2020, SSG Chayne Walsh enlightened us on his experience in the Master Resilience Training (MRT), program. His insight and testimony is an example of the change that can occur through self-reflection and study! Are you resilient?

MRT is a 10-day program of study that teaches resilience skills to noncommissioned officers, and it has been offered in the United States Army since 2009.

The fact that soldiers have found MRT’s teachings to be valuable in both their work and personal lives shows the usefulness of the program and indicates that it could easily be adapted for general use outside of the army.

Overcoming obstacles - Steven Claunch

When faced with a bump in the road, sometimes we forget we have a choice: overcome the obstacle or let it overcome you. Steven Claunch, who was born without fingers on his right hand and with one leg shorter than the other and has excelled in basketball nonetheless, explains why obstacles can provide an opportunity to both inspire others and develop character.

Let’s pause and reflect on July. By reflecting on the past month, you have the mental space to set future goals. So ask yourself the following questions:

What did I learn this month?
What was my greatest accomplishment?
What didn't go to plan? And how can I improve it?
What do I want to achieve next month?

By asking yourself these questions at the end of each month can help you reflect on your future plans, your values and your goals. Just 10 mins of reflection can have a positive impact.

Set at least three aims for the upcoming month. It could be something you're most excited about, or something new you wish to learn. Use your time well to achieve your goals!

Are you familiar with the phrase, “You are your own worst enemy”?

You have a constant dialogue running through your head; a voice that interprets and comments on each event, situation, and feeling you encounter. These conversations you have within yourself can be destructive or beneficial. Your self-talk influences how you feel about yourself and how you respond to events in your life. Positive self-talk can increase our confidence, boost positive emotions, broaden our ideas, and open our awareness about possible actions and solutions to challenges.

Take a minute and think about what you have said to yourself today. Was it harsh and critical? Was it kind and helpful? How did you feel after those thoughts?

Regular mindfulness/meditation practice is like regular physical exercise. The benefits come over time if you stick with it! If you have questions about how to get started, or questions about mental skills practice in general DM me! Here is a good article from the NY Times:
Aloha! Many folks these days seem to have taken up running. That's awesome since it keeps us "socially isolated" but out in the fresh air getting good exercise. If you haven't heard about the "Pose Method" to develop good running form check out this video (you'll find tons more about it on YouTube). I started running this way about four years ago and it has been a game changer for me!
