Over the past few days the Centaurs participated in Raider Week, honoring Medal of Honor recipient, and former Raider, SPC 5 (R) Dwight W. Birdwell for his courageous actions in Vietnam. Yesterday, Raider Week culminated in a grueling SQDN PT event running through the unforgiving terrain of Hawaii.

Even after scaling numerous gulches, water crossings, and navigating an array of obstacles the Centaur Team were all smiles.

Individually, we are just one drop. Together, we are an ocean… or sometimes a mud pit!

We don’t run because we enjoy it.
We run because we don't want to.

We don't workout because it's easy.
We workout because we like the feeling we get when we’ve done something difficult.

We don't workout to lose physical weight.
We workout to lose mental weight.

We don't volunteer for a Physical Assessment to get away from those in our home.
We volunteer to do hard things so when we get the call, that hard thing we got called for won’t prevent us from getting back to those in our homes. (Strike hard‼️⚡️)

This morning, we laced up our boots. Put on our kit and strapped our ACHs.

We ran with malfunctioning watches that we didn't look at because we were more concerned about not slipping off the caving ladder or dropping our weapon while diving.

Today we stayed the course. Brought in a new Standard Bronco Physical fitness assessment.

It sucked. But progress isn’t always linear. Its about the journey.

💥 Sling Load 💥

Your Dakota Troop Centaurs had the privilege of hosting a very successful sling load exercise at Kahuka Training Area with elements from H FSC (2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th ID), A Co 325th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th ID, Echo FSC and our 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th ID Troops’ Apache and Blackfoot.

It was a total team effort and everyone came away with new TTPs for establishing HLZs, site selection, and rigging common loads after the academic portion.

During the PE phase (big thanks to 3/25 CAB Air Support) the teams conducted round-robin rotations of rigging 1x DAGOR and 1x M1152 to a CH-47.

We’re just scratching the surface with this under utilized capability. We look forward to more iterations and joint effort across our sustainment and Aviation enterprise!

“Best Maintenance Program in the Division”

-Brigadier General Baker’s (DCG-S; Lightning 9) comments as he awarded your Centaurs with yet another Maintenance Streamer as top performers across 25th Infantry Division

The criteria to be awarded the Streamer is spread across 10 different categories and scrutinized by a team of Ordnance professionals at Division. This isn’t an exam you can prepare for the night before. It is a result of Soldiers’ daily habits and their will to be better every day. This is a team effort and we certainly appreciate the support from our BSB partners.

The foundation to a great maintenance culture is starting the week the right way.. in the MotorPool. Part of that is a weekly LPD with leaders at Centaur Maintenance University led by Squadron Maintenance Tech (Chief Batterton).

This week, we went over reading an Equipment Status Report so that leaders across the entire Squadron can understand what the status of their equipment in order to fight tonight! So that we can do what we say we can do!

Last week was filled with holiday parties, PT events, a commencement ceremony for college grads (1SG!) And tons of admin/last min heavy duty lifting to close out before we all signed out on leave.

It was a collective effort and we certainly appreciate the support from our friends and family!
