PRESS RELEASE 8-17-2026
An Omaha man will serve time behind bars in connection with a Cedar Bluffs bank robbery last year.

Bruce Dortch was sentenced today in Omaha to 17 years in prison for bank robbery and using a firearm during a crime of violence. He also received five years of supervised release.

There are additional suspects being sentenced later this month in connection with the Cedar Bluffs Bank Robbery on 1-14-2025.

This shows great team work with all agencies involved to get arrests and convictions with the suspects involved.

UPDATE TO BANK ROBBERY 1-14-2025
The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Community State Bank in Cedar Bluffs, NE at approximately 9:46 a.m. on January 14th, 2025, regarding a bank robbery where two suspects with handguns forced bank employees into the bank vault and took an undisclosed amount of cash.
Investigative work by the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska DMV Fraud Unit quickly identified a second vehicle involved in the robbery which allowed the FBI to do further investigative work including numerous search warrants and court orders regarding the case and identify both suspects.
Both suspects, Bruce Dortch (30 y/o) and Dontae Orduna (35 y/o) both of Omaha, NE were taken into custody by the FBI and Omaha Police SWAT Teams last Wednesday, March 12th at around 10:45 a.m. on unrelated charges.
Yesterday, both suspects were indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on charges relating the Cedar Bluffs robbery as well as additional charges from another jurisdiction. They will both have future Federal Court appearances.

🚨 MORE DUI ARRESTS LAST NIGHT 🚨

Saunders County deputies continued DUI enforcement efforts last night, resulting in additional arrests for impaired driving.

One driver was reported by observant motorists after allegedly traveling in the oncoming traffic lane and driving into the ditch. Deputies located the vehicle, conducted an investigation, and the driver was arrested for DUI. Testing showed an alcohol concentration of 0.193—more than twice the legal limit.

We sincerely thank the drivers who recognized the danger and immediately called it in. Their actions may have prevented a serious crash or saved a life.

If you see a vehicle weaving, driving into oncoming traffic, leaving the roadway, or otherwise being operated dangerously, please do not hesitate to report it. Provide the vehicle description, location, and direction of travel when it is safe to do so.

Calls to 911 during incidents of domestic violence or sexual assault can be some of the most difficult calls any first responder receives. The Saunders County Dispatch Center is one of many local agencies committed to improving their emergency response through ongoing education.
