Today is the first day you can file for an elected office. If you are wanting to file for an elected office and you currently hold ANY other elected office you are considered an INCUMBENT. You must file between today, January 5 and Tuesday, February 17, 2026. If you are a NON-INCUMBENT (do NOT hold ANY other elected office) you must file between today, January 5 and Monday, March 2, 2026.

Today is the last day to register to vote, it has to be done in office. We are open until 6:00 p.m. tonight. To check to make sure you are registered, or registered at the right address, correct county, or registered under your correct name, (if you changed your name due to marriage or any legal name changes) you can go to www.sos.nebraska.gov to see how/where you are registered.

Today is also the last day to request an early ballot to be mailed to a specific address. After today you will need to come to our office to early vote or take your ballot home with you to vote or have an agent pick one up for you.

All early ballots need to be returned to our office or in the drop box at the north entrance of the Courthouse by 8:00 p.m. election night. THEY CAN NOT BE RETURNED TO YOUR POLLING PLACE.
