Emerald ash borer larva has been detected in Fargo, North Dakota by city forestry staff. This is the second detection in North Dakota, following the first find in LaMoure County in August 2024.

EAB is an invasive insect that has spread to 37 states and killed hundreds of millions of ash trees. While the beetle doesn’t fly far on its own, it spreads long distances through firewood, tree trimmings, and ash nursery stock.
