Richland/Wilkin County Animal Pound The Dakota Veterinary Hospital located in Wahpeton, ND is the holding facility for stray animals impounded from Richland and Wilkin counties.

To claim your pet please call 701-642-9277 during business hours Monday - Friday 8am-5pm. Pets must have a current Rabies vaccination-proof is required. Impound, board, city license and Rabies vaccination fees may apply. All fees must be paid before your pet is released. We do not handle public adoptions out of our facility. Animals are on a stray hold for 3-5 days to allow owners to claim them. I

f the owner does not claim them they are then typically transferred to a local shelter or rescue to be placed for adoption.
