🌿🌺 4th Annual Lōkahi Day 🌺🌿

Today and everyday we celebrate the beauty of our islands, the strength of our heritage, and the unity that brings us together as one lāhui. Like the voyaging canoes that crossed vast oceans guided by the stars, our students journey together with courage, respect, and aloha.

📸 Lōkahi Day Stage Layout & Photo Zone Info! 🗺️

To make sure everyone has the best view possible and our keiki can be celebrated safely, please take a look at our official May Day Field Stage Layout for tomorrow's big event!

We want to make sure every parent gets that perfect snapshot, so we have set up a dedicated Rotational Photo Zone right in front of the performance area.

How the Rotational Photo Zone Works:

**For capturing your child's performance: There will be a pause before each grade level, so parents can get into the "photo zone". Please safely rotate in/out with their grade, and kindly kneel or squat so the guests behind you can see the performances too! After your child's performance is done, there will be a pause for you to exit the photo zone, so the next group can make their way in after that.**

📍 Key Areas to Note on the Map:
The Stage: Positioned right next to the office building.
Student Seating: Our K-5 keiki are arranged by grade levels around the main field area so they can easily access the stage for their performances.
VIP & Handicap Seating: Located directly behind the Rotational Photo Zone.

General Audience Seating: Plenty of space is available surrounding the performance field.
Entrances & Exits: Please look for the designated entry/exit points marked by the orange cones to keep the flow of traffic smooth.

Quick Reminder for Tomorrow (Thursday, May 28):
8:00 AM: Gates open to families
8:30 AM: Program begins promptly!
1:15 PM: Early dismissal time for the last day of school

📝 Early Keiki Sign-Out Procedure
Planning to take your child home right after the festivities? To make it smooth and safe:

You must present a valid government-issued ID to your child’s teacher, and you must be listed on that specific student’s official emergency pickup list.

Mahalo for your cooperation, kōkua, and kindness in sharing the photo zone space. We can't wait to see you all on the field!

🌱 Growing Good Together at Wailuku Elementary! 🌱
We are so proud of our keiki and the incredible progress made in our school garden this year! From learning the science behind our food to deepening our cultural connection to the 'āina, it’s been a year of growth in every sense.

A few highlights from our 2025-2026 Annual Report:

Cultural Connection: Students showed a significant increase in their connection to and understanding of kalo and ulu.

Mālama 'Āina: Our students are embracing their kuleana (responsibility) to care for the environment.

Healthy Habits: Keiki were more willing than ever to try new foods during our garden taste tests!

Mahalo to our amazing Garden Coordinator, Miss Alexis, and the school administration for their unwavering support. ✨

Dream Big, Work Hard! 💤📚

Tomorrow is PJ Dress Up Day! To celebrate all the incredible effort our students and teachers have put in lately, we’re trading the dress code for our favorite flannels and fuzzy socks.

We know testing season has begun, so let’s take a day to get comfortable, recharge our batteries, and show our school spirit. You’ve earned this "rest" before the big test!

When: Tomorrow!

What to wear: School-appropriate pajamas/loungewear

Why: Because our hard work deserves a cozy celebration!

Just a reminder that there will be NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Thursday, March 26th, as we observe Prince Kūhiō Day.

Why do we celebrate him?
Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole wasn’t just royalty—he was a powerhouse for the people. Often called Ke Ali‘i Maka‘āinana (The Prince of the People), he dedicated his life to preserving Hawaiian culture and ensuring the well-being of his community.

A few reasons he was legendary:
The Statesman: He served as a delegate to the U.S. Congress for nearly 20 years.
The Visionary: He spearheaded the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act to return native Hawaiians to their lands.
The Athlete: He was a champion surfer and helped introduce the sport to the world!
The Founder: He started the first Hawaiian Civic Club to keep the culture and language thriving.

Enjoy the day off and take a moment to celebrate the "Citizen Prince" and his lasting impact on our islands! 🤙🏽🌴

The halls are full of little Wildcats again, and our hearts are happy! 🐾

We hope all of our students and families had a chance to relax and recharge, despite the storms we faced this past week. We are so glad to have everyone back in the building safely today.

As we enter this final part of the school year, we want to celebrate the dedication you've shown to your studies. You’ve put in the work—now it’s time to let that learning shine! Welcome back, everyone! 🍎📚
