298th Regiment MFTR - RTI

298th Regiment MFTR - RTI As part of the U.S. We actively collaborate with our Family Readiness Group (FRG), which includes Family Members, Volunteers, and Soldiers of the 298th MFTR.

The 298th Multi-Function Training Regiment (MFTR) stands as Hawaii’s premier "Institution of Excellence," committed to inspiring Soldiers to reach their fullest potential. Army’s Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) and Centers of Excellence, the 298th MFTR develops adaptive leaders who are tactically and technically proficient across a full range of State Domestic Operations to Federal Unified

Land Operations. Our regimen is designed to ensure Soldiers are well-prepared for various operational demands, enhancing their skills and leadership capabilities. This group fosters a supportive environment, providing a network of communication among Members, the Chain of Command, and the Community, thus strengthening the ties that bind us to one another and to the mission. For spouses and Family members, the FRG offers a sense of belonging to both the unit and the broader Army community—the Army Family. It serves as a vital resource for developing friendships, sharing important information, obtaining referrals to Army resources, and gaining moral support during unit deployments. Long-term involvement in FRG activities can lead to more positive attitudes among Army Families and a deeper understanding of military life, the unit, and its mission. For Soldiers, the FRG provides peace of mind, knowing that their families are supported and self-sufficient. This support allows Soldiers to focus more effectively on their duties, perform better, relate more positively with their peers, and ensure safety during training or real-world missions. Photo Reattack: OCS STX Lanes 🇺🇸

📸 Throwing it back to some outstanding training and leadership development from our recent OCS class.

A quick look back at a recent Officer Candidate School (OCS) class as Officer Candidates from across the force executed Situational Training Exercise (STX) lanes at the 298th Multi-Functional Training Regiment in Waimānalo, Hawai‘i, under the mentorship and stewardship of the instructors from OCS, 1st Battalion, 298th MFTR.

During these lanes, Officer Candidates were challenged to apply tactical decision-making, small-unit leadership, communication, and warfighting fundamentals in realistic and demanding training environments. From movement techniques and react-to-contact drills to leadership under pressure, these future officers sharpened the skills required to lead Soldiers in complex operational environments.

The OCS program continues to develop adaptable, disciplined, and combat-ready leaders prepared to lead from the front and uphold the standards of the Army profession.

Mahalo to the cadre and instructors of OCS, 1st Battalion, 298th MFTR, for their continued commitment to developing the next generation of Army leaders.

🌙 Night Training, Real-World Readiness 🌙

The 298th Multi-Functional Training Regiment is expanding its training footprint with increased night operations, ensuring our Soldiers are prepared to lead and operate under any conditions, day or night.

Recently, Soldiers attending 11B ALC, under the guidance of 1st BN instructors, have been conducting night training at our Waimānalo facilities, focusing on leadership in low-light environments, movement techniques, land navigation, and real-time decision-making under stress. These conditions challenge US Army Soldiers to apply what they’ve learned with limited visibility and increased complexity—just like they’ll face in real-world missions.

This initiative supports our commitment to realistic, performance-based training that prepares the next generation of Army leaders to succeed in any environment.

Stay tuned as we continue to grow our capabilities and push the standard forward.
