Waimea Town Celebration

Waimea Town Celebration 36th annual event taking place in Waimea, Kauai from February 22-23, 2013.

Canoe races, rodeo, exhibits, historic walking tours, film festival, baseball & basketball, a run run and two days of live entertainment. Waimea Town Celebration started as a carbo loading party for the Captain Cook Caper Fun Run in 1978. Since then it has grown into a two day, old fashioned, town celebration with sports, entertainment, food and nonprofit fundraising. In its 35th year, the event i

s growing into a week long schedule of events that celebrate the town's unique history and ends with the Waimea Town Celebration party!

Friday & Saturday February 24 & 25, 2012 is the Waimea Town Celebration- two days of live entertainment, food, craft & game booths and sporting events & tournaments from rodeo to baseball and basketball to lei contests and more. Entertainment at the old sugarmill is on Friday from 4:30 to 11:30pm and Saturday from 10am to 11:30pm. No entrance fee.

A hat lei contest in February - flowers and whatever - ages 5 and up! Friday entry with applications online or available at the West Kauai Technology & Visitor Center. Viewing is from noon on Friday to 8pm and Saturday fromm 10am to 3:3pm with an awards ceremony for the leimakers. Sponosred by First Hawaiian Bank. Take in the exhibits while you're there. The visitor center is open from 10am to 4pm weekdays and free. (Donations welcome). Gift shop.
