The East Hampton Town Police Department is a municipal law enforcement agency, serving the citizens of the Town of East Hampton, NY. The Department employs 63 Sworn Police Officers, 12 Public Safety Dispatchers and 20 full time civilian support personnel, as well as 20 seasonal employees. With a patrol division, detective division, property bureau and DARE officer, the Department provides professi

onal police services to the community. The Department also has patrol officers who participate in SCUBA, Bike Patrol Unit and Emergency Services Unit; and it's own Motor Vehicle Collision Investigation unit.

Congratulations to Detective Dave Orlando upon his retirement after 20 years of dedicated and professional service to the EHTPD and the citizens of East Hampton. Dave also served in the NYPD before becoming an EHTPD officer, and is an 8 year service veteran of the US Coast Guard Reserves. Detective Orlando earned numerous department commendations, including 2 Department Recognition Awards, and handled many difficult, high profile investigations during the last 12 years as a Detective. He had extensive training including Mobile Digital Investigations, Forensic Explorer, Computer Evidence Recovery, Internet Criminal Investigations, Aquatic Death Investigation and the prestigious Col. Henry L. Williams Homicide School. Dave had an exemplary career of excellent police work and commitment to justice for victims, and we thank him for his outstanding contributions to the success of the agency. Congratulations and best wishes for a long, healthy and happy retirement with your family!

Montauk Lighthouse Sprint Triathlon kicks off this morning at 7am from Gin Beach. This is an open road course, so please share the road and yield to cyclists. Expect some traffic interruptions on East Lake Drive, West Lake Drive and Route 27 from West Lake to the lighthouse early this morning. Obey traffic control officers and fire police direction and help make this a safe event.

Soldier Ride kicks off this morning, 9am from American Legion Post 419. Expect traffic interruptions along the ride route into East Hampton Village, up Route 114 to Sag Harbor and back. Please yield to cyclists, obey traffic control and make alternate route plans.

Due to today’s Air Quality Alert, the Town of East Hampton Recreation Department has made several program adjustments to help protect the health and safety of youth participants and staff.

• Youth Park is closed.
• Outdoor Youth Recreation programs are canceled.
• The Springs recreation program will be held indoors.

We encourage everyone, especially children, older adults, and those with heart or lung conditions, to limit prolonged outdoor activity while air quality remains unhealthy.
