Meet our newest Nurse in the Spotlight! “My name is Emily Foss and I am part of the North Dakota jail nurse representation in District 1/2. I am so thankful for MSA’s willingness to include our North Dakota correctional nurses in their meetings and conferences. Although we are in different states, our mission is the same: to care for those incarcerated.
I have been a nurse for 17 years, starting my career working med/surg and ER. My first experience in correctional nursing was at NWRCC under the mentorship of Kelsey Helgeson. After relocating to Devils Lake, North Dakota I returned to correctional nursing where I have been at Lake Region Correctional Facility for 2.5 years.
Jail nursing is truly my calling and passion. It takes independence, consistency, empathy and a sense of humor. Working alongside our correctional staff and with our inmates has taught me more about the goodness of people than any other job I have had.
When not at work, I am a wife (to a super cute husband!) and mom of four (who I could not be more proud of!). I enjoy traveling, reading and playing piano.” We appreciate our ND colleagues and look forward to continued partnership with them!! 🎉😊👏🏼
